Year you first registered / applied with IIBF for CAIIB.

IIBF holds CAIIB twice a year. In 2026: JAIIB in May and November; CAIIB in May/June and December.

Required for an accurate leftover count (default 1 if you just started). Applying counts as an attempt even if you do not sit. Skipped windows do not consume an attempt. Include an upcoming cycle if you already registered for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many attempts are allowed in CAIIB?

IIBF gives 5 attempts to complete CAIIB, within a maximum period of 3 years from first registration, whichever is earlier. Attempts need not be consecutive. Source: IIBF CAIIB Rules & Syllabus 2026 (PDF dated 23.02.2026).

Is CAIIB 5 attempts or 3 years?

Both apply: pass within 5 attempts or 3 years, whichever is earlier. Using all 5 attempts early, or letting 3 years lapse with unused attempts, both require fresh enrolment. Papers passed under the previous enrolment are not credited again.

Do I need JAIIB before CAIIB?

Yes. IIBF eligibility for CAIIB is members who have completed JAIIB or Part 1 of the Associate Examination, with membership subscription not in arrears. JAIIB and CAIIB each have their own 5-attempt / 3-year clocks.

What counts as a CAIIB attempt?

An attempt is counted when you apply for the exam, whether or not you appear. Skipping a May/June or Nov/Dec window without applying does not use an attempt. Debarment periods still count. Register separately for every attempt. There is no category-wise extra-attempt relaxation in the 2026 CAIIB rules PDF.

How do I know my last CAIIB attempt year or session?

IIBF holds CAIIB twice a year (in 2026: May/June and December). Three years from first registration is about 6 exam windows, but only 5 attempts are allowed. Your last eligible session is the earlier of: the sitting that would be your 5th application if you use every remaining cycle, or the last sitting still inside the 3-year window. Enter first registration year, first cycle, and applications so far — year alone cannot account for skipped sittings.

Where can I read the official CAIIB attempt rule?

See IIBF CAIIB Rules & Syllabus 2026 on iibf.org.in (PDF dated 23.02.2026). Always verify the latest IIBF document before registering.
